Thomas Sandell is a Swedish investment banker currently living in New York City, USA.
As a Swedish badminton prodigy, he attended Uppsala University in Sweden where he got his B.A. Spent 2 years in Paris covering European stocks for Atlantic Finance. Then earned M.B.A at Columbia University. Joined Bear Stearns in 1988, was colleague of famed investment banker Ace Greenberg. In 1998, Thomas set up a hedge fund Sandell Asset Management Corp. with its headquarters in New York. Its business focus on global risk arbitrage, equity special situations and credit opportunities. Thomas is the tenth richest person in Sweden, according to Forbes magazine, with an estimated net worth of around US$1.1 billion.
Mr. Sandell is a founding Board Member of The New Leader's Group of the Institute of International Education, the administrator of the United States Government's Fulbright Program. He is also a Trustee of Friends of ARK (Absolute Return for Kids), a charity focused on supporting a variety of initiatives that fight disease, abuse and poverty afflicting children around the globe.
